Nina is 1 Month Old!

Yes, time flies and Nina is already one month old... and finally bigger than her friend, Monkey.

Binky Love

So, even though Nina is definitely getting bigger she has not grown into her binky just yet. She is not bothered by the fact that it covers half her face. Actually, she likes to grab it and hold it in place!

Funny Faces

I finally caught a few of Nina's new faces on the camera... They change in an instant so you have to always be watching to catch the best ones!

Just Chillin'

So, when you have a fussy baby you'll try any position to get that baby comfortable, even if that means stretched out on your legs.

Then you also have to beware of Poppa's sense of humor when he tries to help block the glare of bright lights. Oh, it's fun to pose the baby!

A Perfect Night

Here is the plan for a perfect night: enjoy a nice warm bath with just a few soft bubbles, stay naked and wrapped up for dinner time, then put on your ducky onesie and fall asleep in your big girl bassinet. Ahhhh, off to dreamland for a couple hours!

Pure Bliss

This is the look of content, achieved after a bath, four rounds of poop, a long nursing session, and the coziness of being wrapped up naked.

This is another proof from Nina's newborn session. I think it's a perfect pose for a baby born during the polar vortex!

First Doctor Visit

I love putting Nina in her car seat: she basically disappears, so I only know she's there by the sound of her sucking her binky. Today she's wearing her bear "just hug me shirt" and her fuzzy red fleece pants, accessorized with white socks, sock mittens, and bear hat.

Nina tipped the scale at 5 pounds 4 ounces, a definite weight gain since leaving the hospital.

Grandma helped out while I filled out all the paper work. Nina loves to snuggle!

Naked Baby

After the photo shoot Nina was already wrapped up and cozy, so I left her that way. She definitely likes to get her hands out for maximum comfort while sleeping.

Little Toes

I thought that Nina was finished eating, but no, she was still squirmy and hungry, but that didn't stop me from snapping a few photos. This body suit really makes her look fat - she'll fill it out soon enough.

Kangaroo Care

This is the best way to snuggle... and I can still put those maternity shirts to good use!

Photo Session

Nina had her newborn photo session today, and she was a star: she slept through the whole event! Many thanks to Mandy Beesley of Capture the Dance photography for her patience and expertise in working with our sweet pea.

Wake Up Time

The Relatives Came

It was a busy weekend at the NICU. Aunt Kathy, Uncle Lance, and Uncle Max visited from San Antonio, and Nina slept peacefully with all of them.

Nana and Papa came in all the way from Cincinnati, and they took turns feeding and cuddling, and Nana sang some sweet lullabies too.

Get a Grip

This little girl already has a super strong grip! Here she is after a feeding, grabbing Daddy's pinky, and holding on tight even as he pulls away. She usually likes to grab on when she feeds, which is so absolutely adorable, and it helps keep her from clawing at her precious face.

Happy Birthday!

Nina is one week old today! Now we adore her teeny toes, which she flexes and curls. Her stripe suit is super comfy... and just a tad big like all of her outfits right now. No problem, this girl is growing fast!

Bath Time

On New Year's Eve we got to help bathe Nina. She loved the warm water and Mommy splashing her!

Nina's New Hat

Here's the daily dose of cuteness! Look at that precious face.

At first I wasn't sure about getting out the binky so early, but if the doctor says it can help reduce her risk of SIDS as she falls asleep and it helps strengthen her feeding muscles, AND it clearly soothes her, then who am I to say no? Let's just see how long before she finds her thumb again...

We rang in the new year in the only place we'd like to be: with our baby girl. We got to watch her weigh-in... just after this photo she managed to grab the pad and pull it over her face, doh! What a family photo: do Mom and Dad look just a little bit tired??
