Nina Tries a Push-Up

Finally, here is a video of Nina!  She has gotten so strong, holding up her head and shoulders for several seconds.  She doesn't really like it, but is motivated by looking at herself in the mirror.  Even when we pick her up she tries to do a backbend, making it very tricky to carry her in only one hand - better hold on tight to this busy girl!

Happy 3 Months!

Another month has gone by, and Nina is still growing and changing every day.  Now she is (approximately) 22 inches and 11 pounds, and so incredibly strong.    She has certainly outgrown her monkey, but they will still be best friends... he'll just have to remind her that they once were the same size!

Nina's Ayi

We got very lucky and were able to find an amazing ayi to look after Nina. Ali is a pro and a natural with Nina, and is even a great cook. The real bonus is that her English is excellent.

Here is Nina at our neighborhood park with several other children and their ayis. Nina will be getting plenty of Mandarin practice!

Nina's First Week in Shanghai

Nina has settled into her Shanghai life quite well. We didn't miss a beat in getting her out and about! She's pictured here at the flower market, walking in the neighborhood, going to the Shanghai Museum, visiting Daddy's office, viewing art at the sculpture park, warming up at the French bakery, and shopping at the wet market.

She also went to a birthday party, the grocery store, my nail salon, an art gallery, and Din Tai Fung for soup dumplings. This little girl is unstoppable!

Queen of the Skies

Nina has gone from being the queen of the NICU to the queen of the skies after two very successful flights: 3 hours from Houston to LA, and then 14 more to Shanghai. She barely let out a peep the whole way, and saved her screaming until we passed through customs in Shanghai. I'm not saying we need to do another international flight any time soon, but this was definitely a good start to her frequent-flyer lifestyle.

Road Trip

Nina had a great start to her first road trip: Grandma and Poppa's ranch in Boerne, Texas. She slept the entire car ride, nestled under her custom car seat canopy. When she arrived she enjoyed a delicious dinner and then quickly settled into her bouncy chair. She is right at home at the ranch!
