Wild About the Zoo
Our new Sunday ritual is going out for breakfast and getting to the zoo before it opens up to the public. We love having the whole place to explore without crowds and before the heat is too much. By now we have seen every exhibit, and some of Nina's favorites are the gorillas, penguins, lions, and polar bears. She also loves talking to the monkeys, brushing goats and touching any animals the zookeepers have on display (lizards, snakes, etc).
Washington Park
Downtown Cincy has a great park, right across from Music Hall and some really good restaurants. It has a nice big dog park, splash fountains, a playground with a castle, and a huge lawn that hosts aerobics and yoga classes free for the community.
Nina loved the dog park, watching pups play around and getting a few wet kisses. Then she couldn't resist the splash fountains. Even though I took off her shoes and pants she got soaked, hence the topless look at the playground. Isn't that what being a kid is all about?!

Nina's First Year
Well, it would've been great if I bothered to publish this back in January, but a little distance from these video clips probably helped me narrow it down to the best of the best. The whole movie is still on the longer side, about 12 minutes, but that's only about one minute for each month of her first year! I must say it will be a thoroughly enjoyable 12 minutes, so grab a cup of coffee or glass of wine and get ready to feel really happy!

Fun Around Town
Now that Nina can go running anywhere she has discovered a whole new area of the museum. She took care of babies, built a rocket, drove the city bus (while gnawing on an onion), and of course went back to her favorite: driving the chicken tractor. Click the links for videos.

Our new favorite park is just minutes from the new house, and it doesn't have any playground, but something better: lots of dogs! We brought out the ball, which is really hard to kick while on a hill.

At home I surprised Nina by popping some packing bubbles, and she loved it!

Last Day of School
After a long winter these toddlers have emerged into spring with new skills, experiences, and love for exploration. When Nina started she just crawled around putting everything in her mouth, and today she scampered through the garden, touching flowers and chasing bubbles. What a great first classroom!

The Flying Piglet Race
Nina has finished her first official race! The actual 15-foot "course" was not so challenging so she kept running even after receiving her medal. She was all amped up before the start, even did some stretching, and then ran like a headless chicken until I sort of dragged her to the finish line. She loved it.
